HR Has a New Role?

Written by Amanee Hasan | 283/October/2024

We know that the first few things that come to mind when you hear “HR” are hiring, policy police, and firing. But we all know it’s much more than that. HR now plays a big part in how a company works, how happy the employees are, and how successful the company will be.

So why has the role of HR changed? New technology and the different types of people who work for companies have been big factors. Companies also now, more than ever, understand that their employees are their most valuable resource.

What’s HR’s New Role?

Helping the Company Plan for the Future

HR teams are the backbone of the company and play a major role in helping it plan for its future. They help decide how many people the company needs and what types of people it should have. They also play a crucial role in organizational planning, from workforce planning to succession planning, helping the organization prepare for future challenges.

Employee Engagement & Shaping Company Culture

Happy employees work harder and are less likely to leave the company. So, HR is responsible for maintaining high levels of employee engagement. This is achieved through various initiatives such as recognition programs, career development opportunities, and regular feedback sessions.

HR also plays a big part in making sure the company is a nice place to work, where everyone is included and works well together, maintaining a positive work culture.

Strategic Business Partner

HR professionals are now part of understanding the business and contributing to its strategy. They play a crucial role in organizational planning, from workforce planning to succession planning, helping the organization prepare for future challenges. They can use this data to understand why people are leaving the company or to see how effective training programs are.

Compliance & Risk Management

HR’s role in compliance and risk management has become more critical than ever. With increasing legal complexities, HR has to ensure that the organization is compliant with all local and national laws. This involves everything from managing data privacy to ensuring fair employment practices.
